Take photographs so that the horizon is ranged from top to bottom in sequence.
***
It is difficult to find a place where I can see the clear horizon in the central London so I came to the London Bridge where I can see the Tower Bridge on the reasonably clear horizontal line.
At first I took the sequence of the photographs by changing the position of the horizon (the bridge in this case) without having any foreground objects on the river. I found that they didn't work very well. Then, I took the sequence with the boat on the river as the foreground object (below). In these photographs, the dominant element is obviously the boat, rather than the horizontal line.
This would suggest that which position of the horizon works depends on the other elements (foreground and background objects) the photographer wants to emphasise. If the main interest of the photographer is in the sky, No 1, 2 or 3 might be the right horizontal position. If the photographer's emphasis is on the boat, No 7, 8 or 9 might be the right one. No 4, 5 and 6 are the ones which focus on both the Tower Bridge and the boat, which might show the typical life on the river.
